The Swwim Club DJ booth at W Kuala Lumpur, dressed in tropical flowers and giant leaves

Saturday Selects is an 11-year music collective founded by DJ Roshan Menon, playing house and techno across Kuala Lumpur.

About the collective
An 11-year music collective founded by DJ Roshan Menon, playing house and techno across Kuala Lumpur.
My role
Event strategy, branding, decor and creative direction

What I do

Great music fills a room, but designing a space that is inviting makes people stay (and dance!).

How I work

Each party starts with a brief from the venue and the crew. I turn it into a concept and a proposal with costs, and then we build it together on the day.

What I bring

  • Event strategy
  • Branding
  • Creative direction
  • Decor
  • Partnerships

For Swwim Club on W Kuala Lumpur’s WET Deck, I art-directed the DJ booth. I chose realistic flowers over cartoon pool props.

  • Proposal slide: project criteria, decor areas and budget
The brief: five decor areas, quick to install
  • Proposal slide introducing Swwim Club
    The Swwim Club look
  • Proposal slide showing the venue
    Knowing the venue first
  • Proposal slide with design ideas for the pool

  • Proposal slide pairing W Hotels and Saturday Selects
    Two brands, one party
  • Proposal slide introducing the decor concept

Most parties are built around the night, and most daytime events around one activity: a run, a workout, a brunch. Break-A-Dawn brings something different to the daytime: a communal social built around good house and disco music, with food, movement and play in one space.

We ran it from 6am to 12pm on Malaysia Day, 16 September, on the Sky Society rooftop. I named and branded it, did the decor and brought our partners together.
